Message from the Honorary Consul - Dr Charles Ampomah-Dwamena
It is with such humility that I take up this appointment by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, to be the next Ghana Honorary consul to New Zealand. I take this role with a deep sense of duty and responsibility. As I assume this role, I will seek to faithfully discharge the duties of the Honorary Consul, which includes providing consular services to Ghanaians living in New Zealand as well as others who desire to visit or learn about our beautiful country. To that end, the consulate will be made accessible as much as possible using every available means of communication. Please feel free to contact us.
There is a desire to strengthen bilateral relations between New Zealand and Ghana with the recent establishment of a New Zealand consulate in Accra. The Ghana consulate in New Zealand will work to facilitate the establishment of collaborative relationships between Ghanaian and New Zealand entities. There are opportunities to be explored in areas such as sports, education and business for example in both countries. Ghana has become an industrial hub and gateway for trade and investment into West Africa, in particular. The enduring political stability and its strategic location in West Africa provide easy access to African markets with a population of about 400 million people.
It is also intended for this office to be a catalyst for bringing together Ghanaians living in New Zealand for the advancement of our own welfare as well as to harness our efforts for the development of our motherland. Having previously served as a leader of the Ghanaian Association in Auckland, I am well aware of what can be achieved when we come together as Ghanaians. The consulate will endeavour to reach out to the Ghanaian communities all over New Zealand to help with reviving and strengthening these organisations or groups. The building of strong Ghanaian communities in New Zealand will eventually inure to our own benefit even as we join forces to help our homeland.
God bless our homeland Ghana
God bless Aotearoa New Zealand
